“Incredible experience - dinner with cultural show !!!”
If you want to take in a Myanmar cultural show
with dinner included, I would strongly recommend the Karaweik Palace floating
restaurant on Kandawgyi Lake. I have been there several times and the cultural
performance there is worth seeing. It lasts for about an hour and half with
traditional dances from the different ethnic groups of the country. Both the dinner
and performance are included in the admission fee payable at the entrance. The
fee was US$12 a couple of years ago, but has probably gone up by now to about
$15-20. The dinner is buffet style, and includes Burmese, Thai and Western
cuisine. Kandawgyi Palace itself is a photographer's delight. You can take up a
tour that includes visiting this place as the last destination of your day
tour. Nothing compares to having a sumptuous dinner after a tiring day of
visiting all the interesting Pagodas in Yangon. We actually emailed to
this email add: worldheritage101@yahoo.com and engaged
a network called World Heritage Network that provided us
such tour with a friendly guide and their guide service is impeccable. From
their website: www.whnmyanmar.blogspot.com we could see before hand how majestic that this Karaweik Palace was
and how awesome to have a buffet dinner at their royal hall. The restaurant of the Karaweik Palace is
located inside Kandawgyi Park. The grounds are well lit at night. I think the
cultural show starts at 7 pm, but try to go early, so as to catch the sunset
and a great view of the Shwedagon pagoda from the lake. It's about a ten minute
walk from the park's main entrance to the restaurant. If you don't want to
walk, the guide can drive you right at the entrance of the restaurant.
TIP: Try to get a photo or two taken with some of the restaurant staff who are
dressed in colorful costumes of the various ethnic groups. I had fun asking
them which ethnic races they belonged to. They told me Chin, Mon, Kayan,
Kachin, etc., but I knew by their accents that they were all from the Yangon
area, but we had fun anyway because they knew that I knew too! In the end, it
was a great fun visiting this interesting palace with the aid of our guide with
a tour that was well arranged by this network.

"BEST DINNER AND SHOW IN YANGON !!!"
There is this royal like restaurant in Yangon called “Karaweik
Restaurant”. This is probably the most spectacular restaurant building I've
ever seen. A pair of giant golden ducks support an opulent pagoda on their
backs. The restaurant is in an upscale park in Yangon. The park, it should be
noted, has many very good open-air restaurants, but the Karaweik Hall is where
to go for entertainment. The interior consists of two long halls with a stage
at the end of one. The service is excellent and the food is buffet style and
totally remarkable. The show is terrific too. They
have at least a score of skilled dancers, backed up by a small troupe of
musicians, performing numerous traditional dances. The
cost of my meal in this restaurant, with a few drinks, came to around fifteen
dollars (US). Fifteen bucks for two hours of entertainment? Well worth it! So
go for this restaurant and make it part of your tour when you are visiting
Yangon. Engage a good tour operator who is well known like World Heritage Network a global tour provider and arranger. Their
email: worldheritage101@yahoo.com and website: www.whnmyanmar.blogspot.com They have skilled and professional guides who will show
you and guide you all the way.
I went there recently after engaging World Heritage Network for their guide
service. Very impressive building: looks like a ship, but is actually made with
concrete. Very nice from both, outside and inside where it can be described as
luxury. After our day tour visiting several Pagodas,
our guide brought us there to have dinner. They start every evening at 6:30
with a large buffet and an about 2 and half hour long cultural show. Food is
very good and safe and there is a lot of variety ; food for every taste (meat,
veg. and fish). Good show with nice traditional costumes. Staff always smiling, polite
and well dressed (traditional Myanmar dresses). It’s really worth the trip and
the money we paid. I think everyone should go there by engaging this network as
they arranged tour to this place with dinner too. You may contact them here: worldheritage101@yahoo.com. Really a
highlight while we were in Yangon and I think no one should miss this.
